Priority is given to projects in the La Pointe–Bayfield–Red Cliff region that strengthen community connections, address root causes of issues, explore civic or policy matters, build organizational capacity, produce strong results with moderate funding, or launch new efforts. Grants typically do not fund capital requests or ongoing program support, and long-term funding is not guaranteed—though multi-year support may be considered for emerging programs.

Chequamegon Bay Area Community Fund grants support projects in arts, community and economic development, education, environment, and human services. Guided by the Apostle Islands–Chequamegon Bay Advisory Board, priorities may shift based on emerging needs. Preference is given to projects in Washburn, Ashland, and Bad River that foster collaboration, address root causes of issues, explore civic or policy matters, launch new initiatives, build organizational capacity, or deliver strong outcomes with moderate funding. Grants typically do not fund capital expenses or ongoing program support, though limited multi-year funding may be considered for new programs.
Be located in or provide service to residents within the service area of the Chequamegon Bay Area Community Fund, which includes: the boundaries of the Washburn School District and the Ashland School District, including Odanah, the central community of the Bad River Reservation/ Mashkiiziibii.
The Grutzner Madeline Island Fund supports initiatives that address the evolving needs of Madeline Island in the areas of health and safety, education, children, cultural activities, and the environment. Priority is given to projects that benefit children and youth within these focus areas. Ongoing program support is considered a lower priority for funding.

The Apostle Islands Area Human Rights Fund supports projects that promote tolerance, respect, and cross-cultural understanding while combating bigotry and discrimination. Grants focus on education, mediation and conflict resolution, and celebrations that raise awareness of human rights issues in the Bayfield–Madeline Island–Red Cliff/Gaa-Miskwaabikaang region. Emergency-response grants are also available year-round to address specific incidents. Priority is given to well-defined projects with clear goals, strong organizational capacity, and a solid funding plan that foster dialogue, healing, and community engagement.

The Mary H. Rice Community Innovation Fund supports organizations serving youth, promoting arts and culture, and assisting those in need in Ashland and Bayfield counties, including the Gaa-Miskwaabikaang/Red Cliff Band and the Mashkiiziibii/Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
Grants may be used for general operating and related expenses; however, capital campaign requests are not eligible. Preference is given to projects serving youth, arts and culture, and those in need in Bayfield County and the Gaa-Miskwaabikaang/Red Cliff Band community.
Organizations serving Ashland and Bayfield counties, Gaa-Miskwaabikaang/Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Mashkiiziibii/Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Preference is given to benefit Bayfield County and Gaa-Miskwaabikaang/Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
The Michael Madeline Island Fund supports nonprofit organizations located on or serving Madeline Island to help sustain and enhance the island’s quality of life. Funding is available for projects focused on education, the environment, human services, and historical or cultural preservation. Priority is given to projects that benefit children and youth within these focus areas. The fund encourages co-sponsorship or additional funding from corporations, regional foundations, individuals, and other organizations. Ongoing program support is considered a lower priority.

The Red Cliff/Miskwaabikaang Fund supports programs and services that uphold the traditional values of the Ojibwe way of life—focusing on arts, language, medicinal foods, and ceremonies in Red Cliff, Wisconsin. Grants benefit the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa/Gaa-Miskwaabikaang through work carried out by nonprofit organizations located in or serving residents of the Red Cliff Reservation. The fund does not award grants directly to individuals or families.

The fund encourages preservation in Bayfield by providing grants for preservation projects. The fund is particularly interested in projects that relate to building, rebuilding or reimagining historic sites and/or protecting historic places on public lands. The fund encourages co-sponsorship of projects or co-funding, such as by corporations, regional foundations, individuals or organizations.
