Juneteenth marks the true end of slavery in the United States and has become a powerful celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black culture.
Observed each year on June 19, the holiday is both a remembrance and a celebration, honoring history while creating space for community, reflection, and joy.
Across our region, organizations bring Juneteenth to life through meaningful programming. From community gatherings and cultural celebrations to educational events and artistic expression, these moments foster connection and deepen understanding.
To support this important work, the Unity Fund at Boreal Waters Community Foundation is now accepting applications for Juneteenth 2026 community events and programs.
The Unity Fund exists to support African Heritage individuals and communities in achieving equity and justice. This special Juneteenth funding opportunity is designed to resource organizations leading efforts that bring people together in celebration and reflection.
Total funding available: $40,000
Grant awards: $5,000 – $8,000 per organization
Collaborative efforts are strongly encouraged.
Organizations working together may request funding proportional to the number of partners involved. For example:
We know your time is valuable, especially when you’re planning meaningful community events.
This application process is intentionally streamlined:
At Boreal Waters, we believe that belonging is built through shared experiences, through moments where people feel seen, valued, and connected.
Juneteenth celebrations create space for exactly that.
This funding is about more than events. It’s about:
If your organization is planning Juneteenth programming in 2026, we encourage you to apply.
And if you’re considering a collaboration, this is a powerful opportunity to partner, expand your reach, and deepen your impact.
